Dacia Sandero: Looks just like a £33k car!

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

With Renault’s budget Dacia Sandero now hitting UK showrooms, one dealership has been asking shoppers to estimate how much a Sandero will cost.

We’ve all been surprised with the reaction in the UK to the new Dacia range’s arrival in UK showrooms, and not just the price.

Renault’s budget range is managing to offer properly credible new cars at prices that are almost a no-brainer, especially if value ranks higher on your wish-list than image or toys.

One Renault/Dacia main dealer – Bristol Street Motors – has come up with a cunning plan to ram home just what exceptional value the new Dacia Sandero offers by asking shoppers in Bradford to estimate how much they thought they’d have to pay for a new Sandero.

Estimates ranged from a perfectly sensible £8,000 to a slightly daft £33,000 (we’re not entirely sure Bristol Street Motors were aiming their question at switched-on petrolheads), but it does demonstrate that Dacia are offering the Sandero at the sort of price that attracts a huge amount of interest.

As we said when Dacia announced the Sandero costs from £5,995 (and you can have one from just £69 a month), the Sandero’s styling isn’t cutting-edge, but it doesn’t shout ‘Cheap’ either.

There are decent engines on offer – the 0.9 litre 3-pot, 1.5 litre dCi and 1.2 petrol – and if you want to fork out a few bob more for range-topping Laureate trim you can lose the slightly hair-shirt look of the entry-level Sandero and get stuff like remote locking, Bluetooth, AirCon, Cruise and electric windows and still only pay from £7,995.

It’s a ‘Promo’ for Dacia (and Bristol Street Motors), but it’s a smart way to get the message across that the Dacia Sandero is extremely good value for money.
