Deadmau5 Nyan Cat Ferrari 458 Spider for sale at £200k

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

What do you get if you cross a superstar DJ who wears giant rodent headgear with a Ferrari 458 Spider? Obviously the answer is Deadmau5’s Nyan Cat Purrari...

You may have questions. Many questions. But perhaps the best way to answer them is to drop Deadmau5 a line and offer to buy the Nyan Cat Ferrari from him – as the Purrari is officially for sale.

Deadmau5 Nyan Cat Ferrari 458 Spider for sale: price

Or at least it was for sale, until the Toronto Craigslist website removed the advert – much to Deadmau5’s chagrin on Twitter (we won’t repeat his exact words here on the grounds of good taste).

Deadmau5 will personally film a 'Farewell Purrari' coffee run with the lucky buyer

The asking price is $380,000 – although we’re unclear if that’s US or Canadian dollars (Deadmau5 is a Toronto resident), meaning it could be anything from £206,000 to £224,000.

Best offers are invited, while the DJ also says any amount above the line will be donated to the Toronto Humane Society. It's an animal charity, in case you were wondering.

Aside from being owned by Deadmau5 (aka Joel Zimmerman, if you’re querying his birth certificate) the Ferrari’s most outstanding feature is the Nyan Cat exterior decor – Nyan Cat being a weird internet meme.

The finish is nothing more than a custom vinyl wrap, however, with Deadmau5 noting in his ad that it is entirely removable, “if you’re a pussy”.

Deadmau5 Nyan Cat Ferrari 458 Spider for sale: performance

Being a Spider, the Purrari – so named because it purrs like the aforementioned N Cat, apparently – has a folding hardtop roof.

The 458 has covered just 6,500 miles. But many of these were on the Gumball 3000 Miami to Ibiza event

Powered by a 4.5-litre V8, it produces 570hp, does 0-62mph in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of around 200mph (Ferrari is typically enigmatic about this detail).

The car has also covered just 6,500 miles. But since quite a few of these were as part of the recent Gumball 3000 Miami to Ibiza event, which included Deadmau5 getting banned from driving in France (he was literally escorted into a police van and driven to the border), don’t bank on it having led an easy life.

Even so, Deadmau5 says its condition is excellent, and he’ll even personally film a ‘Farewell Purrari’ coffee run with the lucky buyer, thus making them instantly internet famous for at least five minutes.

If you don’t want to travel to Toronto, shipping within North America is included as part of the deal.

All joking aside, we think this thing looks amazing. Others may disagree.

A tweet on 28 May 2014 suggests Deadmau5 is selling the Ferrari to buy a McLaren 650S instead.
