The latest extension (literally) to the Fiat 500 range – the Fiat 500L MPW – has gone on sale in the UK so lovers of Fiats appealing 500 can still get their fix even if they have a Brady Bunch sized family. A stretched version of the already stretched Fiat 500L, the 500L MPW (which gets the 500L Living badge outside the UK) isn’t a true 7-seater, but does get two extra occasional seats in the boot for transporting the smallest members of your brood when needed.

At just 4352mm long, Fiat claim the 500L MPW is the smallest 5+2 seater people carrier in its segment and, with a starting price of just £15,795 for the Pop Star 1.4 95hp, one of the cheapest cars to transport up to seven.

Two trim levels are available – Pop Star and Lounge – with the Pop Star coming with AirCon, Cruise, 16″ alloys, touchscreen infotainment and rear parking sensors.

The Lounge trim adds in stuff like electric windows, fogs, Climate, auto lights and wipers, seat back tables, privacy glass and an electric glass sunroof.

The 500L MPW gets a choice of four engines from the 95hp 1.4 litre petrol (but only with the 5-seat option), the beautifully vocal 0,9 litre TwinAir, the 85hp 1.3 litre Multijet (with which you can also have Fiat’s Dualogic automatic transmission) and the 105bh 1.6 litre Multijet.

The starting point may be £15,795 for the Pop Star 1.4 95hp, but if you opt for that you’ll only get 5 seats. To get the full 5+2 seating you’ll need to opt for the £17,990 Pop Star TwinAir 105hp, and if you want to go mad and grab the top of the range 500L MPW you’ll need to shell out £20,590 for the Lounge 1.6 MultiJet 105hp.

Even then, as a family taxi, the new Fiat 500L MPW is still decent value for money. It’s just not particularity appealing to look at.
