Fisker Atlantic: Project Nina arrives early UPDATED

Fisker Atlantic - formerly Project Nina

Fisker Atlantic is the baby Karma – know as Project Nina – and we have the first leaked photo ahead of a New York Motor Show debut.

Update: We’ve now got official photos of the Fisker Atlantic in the gallery below.

We now know that the baby Fisker Karma we’ve known until now as ‘Project Nina’ will be the Fisker Atlantic, and now we also know what it looks like thanks to a Czech Auto Forum.

Looking to all intents and purposes like a Karma on a boil wash, the Fisker Atlantic retains the styling cues of the Karma penned by Henrik Fisker, but in a more compact – and more affordable – package. That ‘affordable’ tag is expected to see the Atlantic come in somewhere around the Tesla S in the $50k region, but with the way Fisker has upped the price of the Karma recently, who knows?

As was the way with the Karma, the Fisker Atlantic may be up to a Motor Show debt but it seems likely it’s still some way off being production-ready. In fact, it doesn’t look like Fisker will get the Atlantic to market much before mid-2013.

Now we know what the Fisker Atlantic looks like it’s taken information on the Atlantic on a notch, but we still don’t know what sort of power, performance or economy the Atlantic is going to offer. All we do know is that the range extender powertrain will use a BMW 2.0 litre as its traditional power source – which in itself offers promise – but with a so far unknown electric setup.

But now the Atlantic photo is out it seems likely Fisker will deliver more information – and more pictures – before too long.
