Ford C-Max & Grand C-Max get 1.0 litre EcoBoost

Tue, 16 Oct 2012

Ford has announced that the C-Max and Grand C-Max can now be had with the 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine with either 100PS or 125PS.

It looks like Ford are determined to offer the little 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine in every car they make. In fact, if they still built a proper D-Segement car like the Scorpio it would probably find its way there too. Mind you, it does offer almost as much power as the old 2.8 in the Granada but sips fuel like a miser in comparison.

The latest Fords to get the 1.0 litre EcoBoost are the latest C-Max and Grand C-Max that now come equipped with the 1.0 litre EcoBoost in either 100PS (99bhp) or 125PS (123bhp) guises, both returning the same economy and emissions figures – 55.4mpg/117g/km on the C-Max and 54.3mpg/119g/km on the Grand C-Max.

Since the new C-Max and Grand C-Max hit showrooms in 2010, Ford has shifted more than 27,000 cars, making the C-Max the most popular MPV on sale. Adding in the fun little 1.0 litre EcoBoost should help Ford sell even more.

What may also shift a bit more C-Max metal is the arrival of a new range-topping C-Max – the Ford C-Max Titanium X –   which gets most of Ford’s optional toys including panoramic roof, xenons, part leather, heated front seats, electric drivers seat, 17″ alloys and, if you want the Grand C-Max Titanium X, you’ll also get the comfort rear seat system.

The Ford C-Max 1.0 litre EcoBoost will cost from £17,695 and the Grand C-Max 1.0 litre EcoBoost from £19,795. Both models go on sale this month (October 2012).
