The Ford Focus Sport - current Focus run-out model

You can’t have failed to notice that the Ford Focus is about to be replaced. We’ve been running stories on the 2011 Ford Focus since before it was revealed at the Detroit Motor Show at the start of this year. And the 2011 Focus is almost here, with customer production starting in January 2011.

Which explains – in part – the launch of the Ford Focus Sport which Ford has announced today. It’s basically the run-out model for the current generation Focus, but will continue in production until well after the 2011 Focus starts to arrive with customers. Ford intend producing it until Autumn 2011.

It’s Hobson’s choice on the body style – only a 5-door will be available – but you can opt for the 108bhp 1.6-litre diesel or 99bhp 1.6-litre petrol. And spec is pretty decent, with SatNav, BlueTooth, USB, PDC, 16″ ST-style wheels, Auto lights and Wipers and voice control included as standard.

The current Focus is a decent car, and the spec on offer has £1500 worth of goodies over and above the Zetec for an extra £700. So the usual caveat applies; if the extras float your boat it’s a decent deal. If not…

The 5-Door Ford Focus Sport will cost £16,545 for the 1.6-litre petrol and £17,845 for the 1.6-litre TDCi.
