Ford Mustang GT 5.0 litre 2011 – Official +Video

Mon, 28 Dec 2009

Ford has now released official pictures and info on the 2011 Mustang GT

The reveal of the 2011 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 litre been a bit on the comical side. We first got news that Ford had finally made the 2011 Mustang GT a car worth having again a couple of weeks ago, and just a few days ago we had the first leaked pictures of the 2011 Mustang GT. So there was no way that Ford could hang out for too long with the official gen, and with the Holidays over in the US they’ve bitten the bullet and chucked all the details over.

With 5.0 Litre badges slapped prominently on the 2011 Mustang GT you’re left in no doubt what lies beneath the icon bodywork. The new 5.0 litre lump is a proper Mustang-sized engine – all 302 cubic inches of it. It has 32 valves and twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) which delivers a more than adequate 412bhp and 390lb/ft of torque and should be good for a sub 5 second 0-60mph.

The 2011 Mustang GT gets the choice of a six-speed manual or a six-speed auto ‘box and you can even option-up the Mustang with a set of Brembo brakes to make sure it actually stops (not a strong point on current Mustangs). And with its modern and well-specced engine setup the big Mustang should actually deliver half-decent economy. The official figures (with auto ‘box) are 30mpg on the highway and 20mpg around town, which is more than acceptable.

There’s no word on prices yet, although its unlikely they’ll jump much from the current Mustang. Also no word on whether the UK and Europe will get thge Mustang. But it would be consistent with Ford’s ‘One World’ policy on cars, and with its modern underpinnings there would abe a small – but ready market for the Mustang.

All that Ford has to say is in the 2011 Mustang GT Press Release, plus a photo gallery and video below.
