Ford to reveal design concept, Focus performance variant at Frankfurt

Wed, 03 Aug 2011

Ford is staging four global reveals in September at the Frankfurt motor show, including a design concept and performance news related to the Focus.

Spokespeople at Ford declined to offer specifics, but the cars will be rolled out on Sept. 12 to the media, ahead of a public unveiling.

Ford said the show will feature the details of “the next Focus performance car.” Previous generations of the car have included Focus ST and Focus RS performance variants globally, and the Focus SVT in the U.S.

Implications for the U.S. product portfolio will be revealed closer to the show, though product boss Derrick Kuzak is expected to attend.

The company is playing host to a test track outside the show hall, where parking and stopping technologies can be sampled.

Meanwhile, in other auto-show news, Los Angeles officials said on Wednesday that they have 17 scheduled global reveals for the November show. In a press release, organizers said Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Lincoln have confirmed debuts.
