Ginetta G60

Ginetta don’t have the biggest profile in the car world, but they’ve been around – on and off – for over 50 years. Based until the late ’80s up the road from us in Witham, Ginetta was bought by a bunch of enthusiasts, relocated to Yorkshire and seems to be doing alright after a change of ownership in 2007. Alright enough to reveal the Ginetta G60 this week, anyway.

The Ginetta G60 is based on the Farbio GTS (Ginetta acquired Farbio last year) but with a complete redesign to shed as much weight as possible. That means a carbon fibre body and the shedding of most of the electro-nannies usually found on even hard-core performance cars.

So the G60 does without power steering, has no servo on the brakes, no ABS and no stability control. Driving the G60 promises to be a visceral experience.

Power comes from a Mustang V6 producing a not huge 308bhp. Which doesn’t seem a lot for a performance car, but when you look at the weight of the G60 – just 1100kg – the performance from the 3.7 litre V6 should be impressive – sub 4 seconds to 60mph.

We don’t have prices yet, but if you want one you’d better be quick. Ginetta are producing just 50 G60s.
