Hyundai i30 Tourer gets five-star Euro NCAP

Sat, 20 Oct 2012

The latest version of Hyundai’s i30 Estate – the Hyundai i30 Tourer – has gained a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating – the same as the i30 hatch.

Hyundai has placed plenty of emphasis on the safety stuff in their cars too, with the i30, i20, ix35, ix20, i40, Veloster and latest i30 all getting a five star Euro NCAP rating. And now the new i30 Tourer has joined the gang with its very own top rank safety rating.

Add the safety rating in to the very good offering, and you have another appealing Hyundai. True, with only a 1.6 litre petrol and 1.6 litre diesel on offer (albeit with either 110PS or 128PS), the i30 Tourer may not be the most exciting car you’ve ever driven.

But the i30 does have decent dynamics and, with the diesel engines, enough torque to make it lively enough round town or cruising on the motorway. Chuck in the good build quality, decent equipment, five year warranty and appealing looks and the i30 Tourer is a very good family runaround, with much more room for ‘stuff’ than the i30 hatch.

We’ve booked a new i30 Tourer in for review over Christmas, so we’ll be able to tell you in the New Year if Santa should grab himself an i30 Tourer for his non-flying drops.
