Citroen DS6 Tease?

Citroen has published a teaser photo of the next addition to the DS range on Facebook. Is this the Citroen DS6?

The revival of the DS moniker at Citroen has been a real success, even if the first modern Citroen to get the DS badge – the DS3 – is still the best. But it looks like the fourth modern DS is upon us with what looks like a tease for the Citroen DS6 turning up on Citroen’s Facebook page this morning.

It’s two years since we reported the Citroen DS6 was on its way after Citroen’s Chinese designers produced the Citroen Metropolis Concept, which looked set – at least in our eyes – to be the spiritual successor to the original DS.

The Metropolis was a big car – over 17 feet long – and wide, and was powered by a 2.0 litre V6 with an electric motor bolted on for a hybrid setup said to produce 460bhp, which was sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch ‘box.

Since the Metropolis we’ve had little information about the DS6, but despite the world’s antipathy to big French cars it looks like Citroen are intent on producing the DS6 after all. Which does surprise us a little.

We’d been expecting the next DS to be the Citroen DS2 (ore maybe the DS1), a funky little brother for the frankly brilliant DS3 with a starting point of around £10k. Instead, it looks like we’re going to get a full-sized DS with Citroen pushing itself in to the firing line of the German uber-saloons.

Which should be interesting.
