Jaguar XFR Speed Pack

Thu, 30 Aug 2012

Jaguar has revealed a Speed Pack for the XFR, raising the top speed to 174mph and adding cosmetic tweaks.

We have been expecting Jaguar to arrive at the Paris Motor Show next month with an XFR-S, an XFR with the same power boost as the XKR-S to offer an XFR that can hold its own against the new M5.

That may still be happening, but perhaps Jaguar are only planning on giving us a low-fat upgrade to the XFR in the form of the XFR Speed Pack, revealed at the Moscow Motor Show?

The Speed Pack for the XFR – an option Jaguar gave the XJ last year – is more about bragging rights than any real performance advantage.

Jaguar has upped the limiter to give the XFR with Speed Pack a top speed of 174mph and played with the ECU and gearbox calibration to manage the extra 19mph.

Cosmetic tweaks that come with the Speed Pack are modest, with a new front Aero Splitter and a new rear wing so the neighbours will know you’ve coughed up an extra bit of dosh so you can say ‘My XFR does 174mph’.

Jaguar do say that economy improves by 11 per cent and emissions by 8 per cent on the XFR with the eight-speed ‘box and stop-start now fitted as standard.

We expect the new Jaguar XFR with Speed Pack to be on Jaguar’s stand at next month’s Paris Motor Show.
