Jaguar XKR-S Convertible to debut at L.A. Motor Show

It’s no wonder Jaguar Land Rover has  announced they’re creating 1,000 new jobs at Solihull this morning.

First today we got the job news, then the news that the XJ is to broaden its appeal with the addition of Sport Pack and Speed pack, and now comes the confirmation that the Jaguar XKR-S Convertible will debut at the L.A. Motor Show next week. Just as we predicted Jaguar would back in June.

Jaguar hasn’t released any photos of the XKR-S Convertible, or any other details, except to confirm it will get the same styling mods as the coupe XKR-S and the same power.

That mains – even with a couple of RSJs bolted in to stop the back falling out with the front when the top’s chopped off – the XKR-S Convertible will still be the most aggressive looking XK in the range and will still get to 60mph in a shade over 4 seconds. It will also, almost certainly, break the £100k list price barrier for a production Jaguar.

Also on Jaguar’s stand at the LA Show to tease and torment American buyers for the last time for a while (Jaguar aren’t going to Detroit in the New Year) will be the concept version of the new Jaguar XE – the Jaguar C-X16.

As far as we know the C-X16 at LA will be the same C-X16 we saw in Frankfurt in September, but we do know that Jaguar has recently registered the C-XE name, so whether we see a new concept with that moniker – or Jaguar use it for the production version of the XE - remains to be seen.

It may not be a new car as such, but the Jaguar XKR-S Convertible is certainly one of Jaguar’s ’40 significant production actions in the next five years’ , and the second one today.
