Jag-waar gain coveted J. D. Power 2011 Customer Service Champion

The renaissance of Jaguar has gathered pace in the last year or two, with their entire range now renewed.

The Jaguar XF started the rebirth and the revitalising of the XK proved that Jaguar could deliver a car as good as – and almost as good-looking as – an Aston Martin.

The ‘Cherry on the Cake’ came in the shape of the new Jaguar XJ. It’s a car that perfectly encapsulates the ‘New’ Jaguar, with it’s contemporary style covering a car that excites the pulse – even when it burns the fuel of the Devil.

But making the right cars – cars that capture the imagination and have soul – is not enough if you don’t keep the customer satisfied. And those of us old enough to remember know only too well that Jaguar’s attitude to customer service has not always been faultless.

Thankfully, Jaguar’s new-found sure hand with their cars also seems to have crossed over in to their customer service, for they have achieved coveted J.D. Power 2011 Customer Service Champion status in the US. An accolade awarded to just 40 companies out of 800 considered.

J.D. Power said that the 40 companies awarded the status “…represents the highest-performing companies that deliver service excellence to U.S. customers—both within their respective industries and across all industries measured.”

J.D. Power also made note of ‘Jaguar Platinum Coverage‘ which offers US buyers 5 years free service, including stuff like pads and wiper blades and 5 years roadside assistance. A brilliant plus for US buyers, and part of why Jaguar’s customer service satisfaction in the US is so highly regarded.

But as we said when Jaguar launched ‘Jaguar Platinum Coverage’ last year in the US, why haven’t we got it here? At the time Jaguar told us “…no immediate plans [for the UK] – we will trial it in North America first.”

Looks like it worked a treat in the US. A year later, isn’t it time UK buyers were offered the same deal?
