Ever wondered what happens to F1 world champions when they hang up their race suits? Jody Scheckter – the last man to give Ferrari a world championship in 1979 before Michael Schumacher stepped in – has traded in the glamour of the pit lane for farming.

The owner of the award-winning Laverstoke Park farm and acclaimed organic expert, South Africa-born Scheckter has sealed a deal with Mercedes-Benz World to supply the experience centre’s Gullwing Restaurant with organic food from his Hampshire farm.

'I started Laverstoke Park Farm as I wanted to produce the best tasting, healthiest food without compromise for myself and my family,' Scheckter told CAR. 'It has taken 12 years, but now I feel we are back on the podium as the farm is now winning top awards and accolades throughout the country.

'When Mercedes-Benz World approached us about supplying The Gullwing, it gave me great pleasure to provide our produce as I have been enjoying driving Mercedes-Benz cars for almost 30 years.'

Go-faster food

Scheckter’s menu includes chicken liver parfait, rillette of pork cheeks, pickled beetroot with pork tongue and buffalo blue cheese stuffed comice pears. We wonder if his tractor is a little quicker than his neighbour’s...
