Juke-R gets finishing touches before testing

Fri, 02 Dec 2011

We're slowly winding to a close on the Juke-R video build series. Now, it's time for the finishing touches.

Nissan says it wants the Juke-R to feel like a standard road car inside--even though the company is only making two. That means adding a headliner and carpet, covering up all of the transmission hardware and installing a readable gauge cluster in the Juke's motorcycle-inspired instrument panel.

The car is finished in matte paint but the stuff is so delicate, Nissan wrapped the car in vinyl as well. That way, according the engineers, even if a stone chip happens, it won't be seen.

Next week we'll finally see this beast hit the track for testing and a shakedown, so stay tuned. Seeing a 500-plus-hp baby crossover hit the pavement should be a thing of beauty.
