Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Official 'Spy' Photo

I know. The photo above looks just like every other spy shot we get of every car yet to be released. And it is. Except this is another example of the latest trend from car makers looking for column inches for their new babies – the ‘Official’ spy shot.

Which is an oxymoron. Or should be. This time it’s Lamborghini playing ‘Tease’ with the Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, the replacement for the Murcielago due to be unveiled in a few weeks at Geneva.

It’s just another way for car makers to grab some extra publicity and keep interest bubbling along. And it works. We’re here to report the latest car news, and a photo of Lamborghini’s new range-topper – even if it is covered in the de rigeur black and white swirls – is car news.

The shame is you’ve seen all this before. From the spy shot when we thought this new Lamborghini would be the Jota to the more than half-accurate renderings we’ve run since of the LP700-4. We’ve seen the engine from the LP700-4 – all 700hp of Sant’Agata’s finest – and had confirmation that LP700-4 is indeed the chosen designation for the new Lamborghini Aventador.

All we need now is the actual Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. Undisguised. With all the detail.
