Land Rover Freelander 2 White & Black 2010 launched

Thu, 17 Dec 2009

Land Rover has launched a new entry-level model - The Land Rover Freelander 2 White & Black

Another day, another new Freelander 2 model. Just like a bus; you wait ages for one and then two come along together.

You might think that releasing two new models of the Freelander 2 in succession reeks a little of a desperate desire to shift some metal. And there’s certainly some truth in the assertion that the White & Black and yesterday’s Freelander 2 Sport are about making sales. That is the point. But Land Rover are far from desperate. The Freelander is Land Rover’s best-selling model with over 44,000 sold and they have a 16% market share in their sector this year, which contributes significantly to JLR’s big sales increase and return to profit.

But in the same way as the Freelander Sport offers a more premium and ‘Sporty’ option for the Freelander to attract new buyers, these new White & Black models put the Freelander under the magic £20k barrier, offering a new entry-level option.

The White & Black comes with Land Rover’s 2.2 litre diesel lump which offers decent economy (42.2mpg), gets stop-start, 17″ alloys, privacy glass and keyless start. Choice of colours – as if you hadn’t already guessed – is either Alaska White or Santorini Black and you get a black cloth interior.

A decent spec and, with a starting point of £19,495, the cheapest way in to a new Land Rover. On sale from January 2010.
