Land Rover start tease for new Range Rover Sport

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

Land Rover has started to tease the debut of the new Range Rover Sport ahead of a live drive through Manhattan to show the new Sport to NYC.

In the last couple of years we’ve had two of the new Land Rover products hit showrooms – the Range Rover Evoque and the 2013 Range Rover – to almost universal praise and big queues around the world as car buyers clamour for Land Rover’s latest new toys.

The next instalment in Land Rover’s new model assault is the arrival of the 2014 Range Rover Sport, a car that combines elements of both the new Range Rover and Evoque as Land Rover conspire to make the new RRS the car it should always have been.

That means underpinnings from the new Range Rover instead of the old Discovery – a big weight saving – and looks that are more rounded and sporty and which, we’re hoping, convey visually what we expect from the new RRS; a properly sorted sporty SUV that can match the Porsche Cayenne on-road.

We let you know three weeks ago that Land Rover were planning to debut the new Range Rover Sport at the New York Motor Show (and we managed to pin that down to 26th March – just pre NYC Show – when we had an invite to the debut of the all-new Range Rover Sport last week). So this isn’t news,

Nor, really, is how the new RRS looks – we’ve had Range Rover Sport videos and photos for a long time so you have a pretty good idea of what to expect.

But what is news is that you will be able to watch the live debut of the new Range Rover Sport as it drives through Manhattan (New York is perhaps the most important market for the RRS) on 26th March by heading for www.newrangeroversport.com, where Land Rover want you to register your details to watch the ‘Drive by Reveal’.

Following the new Range Rover Sport’s Manhattan debut it will be off to the New York Motor Show before going on sale by the end of 2013, at prices yet to be decided.
