London parking space on sale for £75,000

Thu, 23 Jan 2014

NEVER MIND the car; one enterprising home owner is hoping to earn some handy extra money by selling their parking space for £75,000.

Located on Westbridge Road in Battersea SW11, the listing indicates that it is a single parking space at the rear of a property – so there’s no garage to keep the car safe, merely enough space for it to be parked.

With easy access to the River Thames and nearby Battersea Park it is an attractive location, but only for someone in the immediate vicinity. However, on-street parking is relatively scarce and not cheap; many of the pay and display bays only allow four-hour stays.

There’s also the eye-watering price. The same £75,000 would get you a two bedroom terraced house in Stockport, Greater Manchester, or if you’d prefer a nice car rather than the parking space £75k would buy you a Range Rover 3.0 TDV6 Vogue with enough change for six months' worth of fuel. Also a resident's parking permit costs £140 a year, and £75,000 would buy you an annual permit for the next 535 years!
