MG6 BTCC Edition celebrates MG going racing

Wed, 12 Dec 2012

MG has revealed a special edition of the MG6 – the MG6 BTCC Edition – to celebrate a return to BTCC racing.

MG doesn’t exactly have a plethora of models to offer car buyers, but its’ making the most of its inherited heritage by taking the MG6 in to the British Touring Car Championship, and to celebrate it’s launched a new model to cast a sporty glow back on the marque.

The MG6 BTCc Edition gets a 1.8 litre turbo petrol offering 158bhp, not enough to win a BTCC race but enough to get the road car to 62mph in 8.4 seconds and on to a slightly asthmatic 120mph.

Cosmetically, the MG6 BTCC gets a choice of two paint jobs – Arctic White or Union Blue – and comes with a matte black roof, a set of 18″ alloys and gloss black for the door mirrors, front valance, back bumper and spoiler, with the odd BTCC graphic dotted about the place.

Standard equipment seems half decent with colour SatNav (and lifetime subscription to TrafficMaster), sports seats in the front, Dunlop rubber, hill hold, electric folding mirrors, rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, Cruise and decent connectivity.

To tempt buyers to grab an MG6 BTCC before the end of the year, MG are offering a pair of VIP tickets to a 2013 BTCC race with a full hospitality package thrown in. Oh, and a MG KX Momentum team jacket and hat.

So if you want an MG6 with BTCC fairy dust and a day out BTCC racing next year, grab £16,995 and rush down to your local MG dealer.
