The McLaren 650S Spider revealed at the Geneva Motor Show

We had the reveal of the new McLaren 650S Coupe just last month, but what we didn’t get is the reveal of the Convertible version. But that’s all changed today with the arrival of the McLaren 650S Spider in Geneva with the same trick folding roof as the 12C Spider and the same cosmetic and dynamic changes as the 650S Coupe.

That means open-top motoring with stunning performance – 0-62mph in 3 seconds and 124mph in 8.5 seconds thanks to the 650S’s 641bhp and 500lb/ft of torque from its updated 3.8 litre V8.

The same dynamic updates apply to the Spider too, and the minimal weight increase on the Spider – just 40kg – means the 650S Spider will handle and perform just like the Coupe, thanks in no samll part to its carbon fibre cell.

The heated rear window in the Spider works the same as in the 12C, so yopu can keep the window up when the roof’s down to act as a wind deflector, or take it down to enjoy the aural delighst of the engine more fully.

And just like the 650S Coupe, the Spider comes well-equipped with carbon ceramic brakes, unique alloys, IRIS SatNav, Bluetooth, DAB and an Alcantara covered interior (or leather, if you prefer).

And just like the 12C, we wonder why anyone would choose the Coupe instead of the Spider?
