Mercedes C63 AMG 'Edition 507' (2013) first official pictures

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

Mercedes has squeezed another 50bhp out of the C63 AMG, creating the 500bhp 'Edition 507' range. The power bump comes courtesy of forged pistons new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft inherited from the £160,000 SLS AMG supercar.

Why is this special C63 AMG called the 'Edition 507'?

Thanks to those exotic engine internals the motor develops 507PS, or 500bhp in old money. That's up from 450bhp in the standard C63, and 480bhp in the AMG Performance Pack version. Torque has also increased, from 442lb ft to 450lb ft. The lighter components drop the weight of the 6.2-litre V8 by 3kg.

How fast is the C63 Edition 507?

Saloon and coupe versions hit 62mph in 4.2sec, while the estate 507 takes 4.3sec. That means a tenth of a second improvement for each model, while top speeds are all electronically limited to 174mph, up from 155mph. As a deal-sweetener, Mercedes is throwing in free driver training courses with each C63 507.

What other upgrades are present on the C63 AMG Edition 507?

The front brake discs are carbon ceramic, and there's lighter 19in alloys all round. The bonnet, complete with nostril vents, is nicked from the 510bhp C63 AMG Black Series, and there's a darkened finish for the rear lip spoiler, mirrors and headlights. And for the ultimate in car park one-upmanship, Edition 507 cars get matt grey go-faster stripes emblazoned down the sills.

Inside the cabin you'll find extra AMG badging on the dual-clutch seven-speed transmission's gear selector, and contrast stitching abound.

When can I see more of the Mercedes C63 Edition 507?

The uprated C63s will arrive at the Geneva motor show from 5 March 2013. UK sales will follow shortly after, though Mercedes hasn't confirmed how much the price will rise from the current C63's £56,930 tag.
