New Aston Martin DBS on the shores of Lake Como at Villa D’Este

The new Aston Martin DBS – codenamed AM 310 – has arrived for its first public outing at Villa D’Este.

Just as we exclusively revealed earlier this week, the new Aston Martin DBS has made its public debut this morning at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, and our friends from Autoblog Netherlands were there to catch it in the flesh.

The new DBS is said to be 75 per cent new, and in terms of crossover parts directly from the DBS it is. Everything has been tweaked and fiddled with and modified even if it ends up looking like…well, every other Aston Martin in the last decade.

There’s a big bulge on the bonnet, the headlights appear to have come from the Virage and a chunk of the back from the One-77.

Power has been increased to 565bhp which should mean a sub-4 second 0-62mph, thanks not just to the extra power but to weight saving from extensive use of carbon fibre and aluminium. The gearbox is also at the back for better weight distribution.

Interestingly, the reason Aston Martin are calling this the AM 310 at the moment is not because they haven’t come up with a new name, but because by giving it a ‘Concept’ name they can enter it in to the Concept category at the Villa D’Este show, a category they’ve had success with recently with the One-77 and V12 Zagato.

So expect the new DBS to get its new name once Aston Martin has cleaned up in the ‘Concept Category’ at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2012 this weekend.
