New AutoWeek.com article-commenting system arrives

Tue, 07 Jun 2011

We're always looking for ways to improve autoweek.com and to make the site's features user-friendly for readers who want to take part in the discussion.

On June 8, AutoWeek turned off the previous comments system and replaced it with a new one that's more in line with popular demand.

You're now able to log in with any of four accounts before leaving a comment: Facebook, Yahoo, Hotmail (Windows Live) or AOL. (Google users, fear not--you can connect your Google and Yahoo accounts for log-ins.) Then just post your comment. If you're logged in through Facebook, you'll see a checkbox offering to “Post to Facebook.” Check that, and your comment will appear on your Facebook Wall, with a link to the article. This is great for kicking off conversations with your own social network.

If you don't already have an account with one of the accepted services, you can set one up within minutes (and for free) at any of their sites.

Already we've seen lots of new commenters join the conversation, and most of the veteran community members have picked up right where they left off. A nice new feature is that, unlike the old comments system, you can delete your own comment in case of a typo (or second thoughts).
