New Mercedes A-Class Price & Model lineup announced

Wed, 27 Jun 2012

Mercedes-Benz has revealed the model linup and prices for the new (2013) A-Class. Starts at £18,945 for the  A180 BlueEFFICIENCY.

The new Mercedes A-Class has been promising a lot since it was first officially revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and it looks like that promise is going to be reinforced by some surprisingly keen pricing.

Mercedes has revealed that the new A-Class will start at just £18,945 for the A180 BlueEFFICIENCY, a starting point for the range that undercuts both the new Volvo V40 and the BMW 1 Series.

The entry-level A-Class comes with comfort suspension, a 5.8″ colour display, cloth upholstery, Bluetooth and Becker Map Pilot pre-wiring and a manual ‘box for its 122bhp 1.6 litre petrol engine.

Move up a notch to the SE model and you can add stuff like 16″ alloys, a posher grill, leather steering wheel, sports seats with fabric and ARTICO stripe design and contast stitching plus Adudio 20.

Engine choice on the SE spec is either the 1.6 litre petrol or the 1.5 litre diesel diesel which can be had as a manual with 98g/km or the 1.7 litre with the 7G-DCT 7-speed auto ‘box and 109g/km.

Sport models add stuff like 17″ alloys, twin exhausts, Cruise, auto lights and wipers and comes with a choice of a 154bhp petrol A200 and an A200 CDI with 136bhp as well as the engines from the SE.

AMG Sport models add sports suspension, perforated discs and AMG styling with 18″ wheels and come as A200 CDI, A220CDI and A200 and a meatier A250 with 211bhp.

The range-topping models are the ‘Engineered by AMG’ A class (which doesn’t include the A45 AMG for now) which gets the diamond pattern grill from the A Concept, AMG Sports Suspension, 18″ AMG wheels, red brake callipers and tweaked ESP.

The AMG models will also get bi-xenons with LED running lights, leather trim, heated front seats and splashes of red so you know it’s ‘Sporty’. Initially available only as an A250, you will also be able to get the AMG as an A220 CDI from Spring 2013.

The new Mercedes A-Class goes on sale in the UK in  December.
