Mercedes CLC to debut as Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe?

It looks like the new Mercedes CLC – a mini CLS based on the new A Class – will debut at a film and food festival in LA as the Concept Style Coupe.

We know that a mini CLS based on the new Mercedes A Class is planned, and we know it’s likely to be the Mercedes CLC (or any number of other potential monikers including CLA and BLS) and will probably even spawn a CLC Shooting Brake version too. And now it looks like we know when it’s arriving.

Mercedes-Benz has issued a press release saying that they will reveal the ‘Concept Style Coupe’ at  the Los Angeles Debut of Transmission LA: AV CLUB in Affiliation With The Museum of Contemporary Art in LA, an event hosted by Mike D (no, it doesn’t mean a lot to us either other than Mike D is one of the Beastie Boys).

The event is said to be a multi-disciplanary festival and a meeting point for the Los Angeles art and music community with artists, musicians and food masters coming together for the event that runs from 20th April to 6th May.

It seems an odd place to launch what we assume is the Mercedes CLC (we thought that might happen at the New York Motor Show in April) but it’s perhaps a way of getting American car buyers outside the mainstream turned on by a new, small and funky Mercedes.

Mercedes say that the event is “…a platform for creativity. Curiosity and the joy of breaking through existing barriers are drivers for innovation and progress, and not just at Mercedes-Benz” and that the highlight of the festival will be the ‘Artistic Staging’ of the ‘Mercedes Benz Concept Style Coupe’.

So now you know.
