New Mercedes GL (2013): Price from £59,465 to £91,680

Fri, 23 Nov 2012

Mercedes has announced that the new 2013 GL will cost from £59,456 for the GL 350 BlueTEC AMG Sport to £91,680 for the GL 63 AMG.

The Mercedes GL 350 BlueTEC AMG Sport will cost from £59,465 and gets a chunk more kit than the outgoing GL. That includes Intelligent Light System, bi-xenons, LED daytime lights, AMG body styling, 21″ AMG alloys, Privacy, electric glass roof, AirMATIC, Parktronic with Park Assist, COMAND and DAB radio.

But if you really want to spend, Mercedes are happy to oblige with a raft of options including Parking PAckage (£675), Panoramic Roof (920), On & Off Road Package (£1,985), designo upholstery (£6,845) and driving assistance Pack (£2,350). It wouldn’t be difficult to pat getting on for £80k for your GL 350 BlueTEC.

Economy and performance also improve on the 350 BlueTEC which now gets 35.3mpg, and therefore 209g/km, can hustle its not inconsiderable bulk to 62mph in 7.9 seconds and on to 137mph.

At the top of the GL tree is the Mercedes GL 63 AMG, which will cost a quite large £91,680.

The GL 63 AMG comes with flared wheel arches, 21″ AMG alloys, AMG Brakes, Active Curve System, AMG Sports Exhaust, AMG Sports Seats, AMG leather, heated seats on the front two rows, memory package and massage seats. Some of the options are cheaper on the GL 63 than on lesser models, but you’ll still be able to spend well over £100k without really trying.

The GL 63 AMG may not be cheap, but for a monster of an SUV it can hustle. 0-62mph is dealt with in just 4.9 seconds and the top speed is a limited 155mph. Despite its 557hp and 760Nm of torque the GL 63 manages official economy of 23mpg and emissions of 288g/km.

We’ll no doubt get price and spec information for the diesel GL before long.
