The New Skoda Logo

Skoda has been making cars for more than a century. Not always great cars, it has to be said, but a noble history nonetheless. And a noble history put to good use by Volkswagen when it acquired Skoda in 1990 and made it in to the entry-point for the Volkswagen brand. But Skoda has become much more than a cheap VW.

Skoda sales have continued to grow and reached record levels in 2010. Which is no big surprise when you look at what Skoda now offers. Cars like the brilliant Skoda Yeti and the hugely entertaining Fabia vRS – both arguably better the equivalents on offer from VW. No mean feat.

But Skoda don’t intend resting on their much-deserved laurels. They’re out to double sales by 2018, and to kick that push off they’re taking a Skoda Concept to Geneva next week.

A Skoda Concept which will herald a new design language to push Skoda forward in the coming years, and dictate how Skodas to come will develop.

Skoda are keeping all this close to their chest and there seem to be no leaks so far. What may have leaked is the new Skoda logo we’ve posted above, which dropped in our Inbox this morning. It still features the Indian Headdress we see in the current logo, but in a more stylised and contemporary form.

Is it just us, or does it look like a chicken?
