New Volvo C30 introduced +Video

Volvo has facelifted the C30 for 2010 and will launch it at Frankfurt

The front of the new C30 sports sheet metal changes to the wings and bonnet and a bigger Volvo badge on the honeycomb grill, together with bigger air intake. These changes reflect those seen on the new Volvo C70 and are a reflection of design cues from the S60 Concept. The rear gets a tweak too, and you now get a colour-coded rear valence, which can be specified in a contrast colour if you wish. You also get a choice of new colours for the contrast colour, plus a new option – Orange Flame Metallic – together with visible exhaust pipes on the T5 and D5 models.

On the inide the C30 has a few new funky options. You get the option of Espresso/Blond, which gives you an Ikea feel, plus you can throw in the new colour accents, which include orange, green and blue in the fabrics, as well as a new Cranberry colour for leather upholstery.

Volvo has also played with the chassis on the C30 and you can now opt for the Sports Chassis option, which is said to give the C30 a ‘Significantly Sharper Ride’. The Sports Chassis gives you stiffer dampers and springs, sharper steering responses and a 10% tighter ratio. The option is available across the range, except for the 1.6D DRIVe stop-start version.

There are a total of eight engine options on the new C30, including five diesels and three petrols. Also included are a pair of DRIVe eco models with improved economy and emissions.

No price yet, but the new C30 will go on sale early in the New Year.
