New i10 city car annouced by Hyundai

Tue, 15 Oct 2013

THE NEW HYUNDAI i10 goes on sale in the UK from the end of January and prices will start at £8345, which is the same price as the outgoing model.

Hyundai promises a big step forward in the comfort, quality and equipment of the new i10. All models will come with six airbags as standard, plus electric front windows, CD stereo and daytime running lights. All but the base model will also have air conditioning included and there are four trim levels covering S, S Air, SE and Premium.

Longer, wider and lower than the outgoing i10, the new model offers more interior space and a boot that now accommodates 282-litres of luggage with the rear seats in place. Hyundai also says it has reduced noise inside the cabin at all speeds.

There are two petrol engines to choose from with 1.0- and 1.2-litre units mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. An automatic transmission is an option for the 1.2-litre engine. A Blue Drive version of the 1.0-litre motor provides 98g/km carbon dioxide emissions.

Tony Whitehorn, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor UK, said: ‘The i10 has proved to be a hugely popular model in Hyundai’s range and it has successfully maintained annual sales above 20,000 units since 2009. The New Generation i10 builds on this success with a more expressive and stylish car that majors on refinement, quality, safety, generous specification and also value. With this in mind, Hyundai expects that the new model will still appeal to both existing i10 owners as well as those customers who may not have considered Hyundai in the past.’
