Nissan GT-R R36: Is this it?
Fri, 14 Mar 2014
Facebook user 7tune snapped a picture of a Japanese magazine claiming to have pictures of the R36 Nissan GT-R.
The poster, whom we assume can read Japanese, says the next GT-R will have a hybrid powertrain like the McLaren P1 and Ferrari LeFerrari. He also says it will carry a new version of the company's twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 making 580 hp.
On top of that, the GT-R will get a KERS-style regenerative technology for an extra 250 or so hp, resulting in more than 800 hp total.
That will be good for, according to the translator, a 2.7-second 0-62 mph time, with a top speed near 211 mph.
It should be priced between $120,000 and $150,000, which would make sense considering current GT-R pricing.
Lending credence to the pic, Australia's The Motor Report, wrote a story late last year claiming Nissan trademarked the phrase “R-Hybrid,” which would sit perfectly on the rear of that purple GT-R.
We've sent word to Nissan, but we don't expect much back. They normally don't comment on these types of things.
