Nissan recalls Altima sedan for suspension fix

Mon, 01 Aug 2011

Nissan is recalling about 20,000 Altima sedans from the 2011 and 2012 model years to fix a transverse link bolt that might not have been torqued to the proper specification.

Altimas built between April 25 and June 10 at the Canton, Miss., plant are affected by the recall.

The bolt could come loose while the vehicle is being driven. If the bolt fails completely, according to Nissan, the car could be hard to control, possibly resulting in a crash.

Nissan will replace the transverse link bolts and nuts and tighten them to the proper specification.

Concerned owners can contact Nissan at (800) 647-7261 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at (888) 327-4236.
