One Lap of the Web: Hemi history, vintage Audis and Detroit Grand Prix

Thu, 16 May 2013

We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about.

-- Watch a Pontiac Grand Am meet its demise as Pennsylvania sanitation workers crush it with a garbage truck. Let's hope they removed the fluids.

-- Petrolicious gives us the history of the Hemi, a muscle car icon that got its start well before NASCAR and the horsepower wars of the 1960s.

-- Visit Motor Authority for some Audi eye candy as they cover the dozens of classic Audis that gathered in Germany last weekend.

-- Race fans can cruise to Detroit's Belle Isle by boat for the Grand Prix next month. Organizers added ferries that will operate in half-hour intervals, streamlining transportation to the island.
