The Pagani Zonda Revolucion – the ultimate Zonda

We’ve lost count of the number of ‘Special Edition’ Zondas Pagani has churned out over the years, but it’s probably close to the point where a non-special Zonda is rarer than the special editions.

Now we get treated to one last special edition Zonda with the Pagani Zonda Evolucion, an evolution of the track-only Zonda R promising even more extremes of performance and price.

The Evolucion’s 6.0 litre V12 engine produces a massive 789bhp which, thanks to a weight of only 1070kg, promises to be unbelievably quick with a power to weight ration of 749bhp per ton – better than the Veyron.

To put it in to perspective with the Zonda R, the Evolucion manages to weigh 34kh less and produces 50bhp more. That should see the 0-62mph coming in well under 3.0 seconds and top speed above 240mph.

Lots of changes have been wrought from the starting point of the R, with a 12 stage traction control system, carbon air deflectors on the bonnet, a pair of spoilers and an enormous fin on the back with a DRS drag reduction system, better ceramic brakes and a sequential ‘box that makes changes in 20ms.

As you’d expect, the Zonda Evolucion doesn’t come cheap at €2.2 million (+tax) – that’s a LaFerrari and a McLaren P1 plus change for a great holiday – and Pagani are building just five. They also say they’ve already sold 4 of them.

So if you want a Zonda Evolucion – and you’ve a couple of million to spare – you’d better be quick.
