Porsche Panamera Hybrid: Geneva Reveal

We’ve got to say, the news that the Porsche Panamera Hybrid (strictly speaking, the Porsche Panamera S Hybrid) is going to debut at the Geneva Motor Show in a couple of weeks time isn’t exactly a shock. After all, Porsche has made no secret of its plans to stick Hybrid gubbins in the Panamera; CO2 targets, and all that guff.

But Porsche seems to think it is a surprise (unless they really have a surprise and are planning on revealing another Porsche hybrid altogether much sooner than we expected) as the press release we got in from Porsche has the enigmatic little tease of a headline – ‘Porsche: Hybrid world premiere’.

Now, Porsche is a German company. And although it may be a national stereotype, the Germans are efficient. So when Porsche issue a press release it doesn’t just send a word document or a PDF. Oh, no. Porsche sends us a ‘Specification’ for the press release.

That Porsche Specification is very thorough. It includes the language of the press release, the archive number, the date, the title and a little section called ‘Products’, which lists all the products referred to in the press release. All of which is very useful. For which we are always grateful.

But sometimes thoroughness can be a bit too thorough. Because although the headline for the press release  makes no mention of the hybrid model – and nor does the text of the press release – the ‘Products’ list very helpfully refers to the Panamera.

Which appears nowhere else in the press release. So it seems certain that the hybrid Porsche at Genevea will be the Porsche Panamera Hybrid.

As well as the Panamera Hybrid Porsche will be taking along the Porsche 918 RSR Hybrid from Detroit, the Porsche Cayman R and the two new Porsche Limited Editions – the Porsche 911 Black Edition and the Porsche Boxster S Black Edition.

Don’t you just love German thoroughness?
