Production 2014 Acura RLX to debut at LA Auto Show

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

It was springtime in New York and Acura was unveiling the “concept” version of their new RLX flagship (see photos above). Now, with spring behind us and summer celebrated, we head into the autumn show season with news that Honda's lux arm has confirmed that the production RLX is to debut at the L.A. auto show in late November.

Expect the mass-market iteration to be festooned with a bit less visual gewgawery, but we don't expect it to look appreciably different from what went on display in NYC. Power, as is Acura's historical wont, comes from a V6 rated at 310 hp in FWD models. The available Sport hybrid SH-AWD system adds another 60 horses and gooses the rear wheels for improved handling.

Will the RLX remain the perpetual also-ran that Acura has fielded in the segment since they killed the Legend nameplate? Honda's hoping the new styling and techno-tweaks mean that it won't.
