Range Rover the must-have car this Christmas?

Eartha Kitt may have asked ‘Santa Baby’ for a ’54 convertible for Christmas, but when it comes to the rest of us, it would appear that British is best. That’s according to a survey of 55,000 petrolheads by airport and online car competitions company, Best of the Best.

In the poll, not only did the Range Rover claim top spot, it also grabbed third and fourth position, with only the Aston Martin Vantage stopping the luxury off-roader from making it a perfect one, two, three.

Sitting at the top of the tree is the Range Rover Sport, with the Evoque third and the ‘standard’ Range Rover Vogue SE fourth.

Another star is the all-new Jaguar F-Type V6S, which we’re sure wil be followed by the beautiful coupe version, when the survey is done again in 2014.

In fact, the top ten reveals that it’s British and German cars that dominate the Christmas wish list, with the Italians not even getting a look in. The most sought-after Ferrari is the 458 Italia, and that scored a lowly 21st position.

And don’t think for one minute that the results are simply down to 55,000 fiercely patriotic Brits. The survey was completed by more than 80 nationalities, proving that British-built cars are still the envy of the world.

There’s just one thing bothering us. How did Ms Kitt expect Santa to deliver a ’54 convertible down the chimney? And a yacht? Behave yourself. You should be happy with a clementine and some cheap perfume.
