Skoda’s biggest car – the Superb – will be replaced in autumn 2008. The new Superb is unveiled today ahead of its show debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March – and it’s received a welcome dose of style over today’s taxi-special that majors on a vast, echoing interior over any recognisable form of chic.

The new Superb is even bigger than the current model; this one is 4838mm long and 1783mm wide, but it’s slightly lower than before for a sleeker, lower look.

Skoda will foist a slew of new technology on the Superb, and adaptive headlamps, digital climate control, parking assist like on the VW Touran and an impressive nine-strong airbag count.

Although the Superb has always concentrated on pampering passengers in stately comfort, the new one will be a sharper drive, promise the Czechs. And get this – there’s even a 260bhp engine option for chauffeurs in a hurry. The range will kick off with a 105bhp engine. No further mechanical details have been released yet, but we know there will be a choice of manual and DSG twin-clutch transmissions, expected to be VW’s new seven-speeder.

Production stats this summer and UK models land here in September 2008. Expect prices to kick off at a competitive £15,500.
