Toyota Auris Hybrid: UK Price & Details

Tue, 18 May 2010

The Toyota Auris Hybrid UK starts at £19k and arrives in July

Toyota has had more than their fair share of woes this year, what with the Throttlegate recalls and loss of confidence in Toyota as a result, not just by buyers but by investors. But Toyota are fighting back and pushing ahead with their ‘Green Dream’ of delivering a hybrid for every occasion (we ask every time, but why?) and have now confirmed trim and price for the UK-built Toyota Auris Hybrid.

Starting price – when the Auris Hybrid hits the market in the UK in July – will be £18,950. That will buy you the Auris Hybrid T4 model, and for £20,700 you can grab the only other available trim level  - the  Auris Hybrid T Spirit model.

Understandably, Toyota are keen to point out that the Auris Hybrid is UK built using the same 1.8 litre lump the Prius uses, which is also built in the UK. Emissions are the raison d’etre for the Toyota HSD, so we see headline emissions at 89g/km and fuel consumption coming in at 74.3mpg (more/less depending on wheel choice).

We know some of you care, so just for the record the standard kit on the Auris Hybrid is Climate, CD/MP3, USB & AUX, electric windows, heated mirrors, front fogs, LED running lights, colour coded door handles and mirrors, push button start, seven airbags, VSC, TRC and Hill Start.

Move on up to the T Spirit and you can add Leather/Alcantara, Cruise, Bluetooth, Auto lights & wipers, keyless entry and rear-view camera. You can also opt for an optional Navigation Pack which gives you satellite navigation, rear camera and rear parking sensors for £1,200. Bluetooth can be specified for the T4 version for £285.

Decent specs and a decent car. But we’d opt for the less complex, similarly performing and almost as economical Auris TR 1.4 D-4D and save a few bob.
