Ultrarare, never-raced Lamborgini Diablo GT-R hits the market

Wed, 18 May 2011

Any Lamborghini is a special acquisition, but for those who desire true exclusivity in an exotic-car purchase, we present the Lamborghini Diablo GT-R. The GT-R is a track-only variation of the exclusive, street-legal European-only Diablo GT.

This is not just your garden-variety Diablo GT-R. The seller claims it's one of two, possibly three GT-Rs that were never campaigned or raced.

The only other known car that never competed currently resides at the Lamborghini factory museum in Sant'Agata Bolognese in Italy.

“This car has less than 800 kilometers on the odometer,” says seller Nick Jones of Symbolic Motors of La Jolla, Calif. “It has basically come straight out of a collection.”

There were 30 GT-Rs built in 1999-2000 for the sole purpose of supplying a gentleman's racing series. Outfitted with close to 600 hp, a roll cage, a fire-suppression system, pneumatic jacks and a free-flowing exhaust, the GT-R was the epitome of a purpose-built track machine from the House of Bull.

The current asking price is $699,999. If your pocketbook is deep enough, check out Symbolic Motors' site.
