VW Amarok gets an update & BlueMotion Technology

Tue, 06 Nov 2012

Volkswagen has updated the ‘Bob the Builder’ VW Amarok for 2013 with new options, more power and BlueMotion Technology.

The market for the pick-up that also doubles as a family car for the weekends is strong, and Volkswagen’s offering – the VW Amarok – is one of the best-built on the market. And now it’s not only well-built, but more powerful and more frugal too.

VW has given the Amarok a refresh for 2013 and in the process upped the power on the 2.0 litre BiTDI from 161bhp to 178bhp – which makes a tiny improvement in acceleration – but the fitting of BlueMotion technology across the Amarok range has seen economy improve from 35.8mpg to 37.2mpg and emissions drop to 199g/km.

The range-topping Amarok Highline with BlueMotion and 4Motion also gets an eight-speed auto ‘box – and costs £25,105 +vat – with all the  BlueMotion Amaroks getting low rolling resistance tyres, stop/start and regenerative braking.

Options include Bluetooth, tacho prep, cornering fogs, parking sensors and 19″ alloys and the old 2.0 litre TDI is still available in paupers Startline trim from £18,795 +vat.

The 2013 VW Amarok is now in showrooms, with demonstrators available.
