Volvo V40

Tue, 28 Feb 2012

The new Volvo V40 is set to be unveiled at next week's Geneva motor show.

The manufacturer has sought to retain characteristics from the larger Volvo models but refine it with sharper features in a more compact form, while focusing on a number of key areas within the car. It's closest equivalent – in terms of format – is the Audi A3 Sportback thanks to its mix of hatchback and wagon characteristics.

Volvo says that the V40 is the first model to use its ‘Designed Around You' design strategy, aiming to provide the highest level of comfort within the car with improved ergonomics and technology. The instrument cluster has a personalized layout and enhanced intuitive information for drivers as part of the ‘Designed Around You' strategy, and is an evolution of the S60 and the C30, featuring a reorganized dash cluster and metallic surrounds.

Håkan Abrahamsson, Vehicle Line Director C Cars & V40 Vehicle Programme Manager, says, "The all-new V40 makes an instant impression with a dramatic design that stands out from the crowd. "The car also has so many new features that it has an exceptional 'density'. It has pretty much everything," he adds. We shall confirm if he's right live from Geneva next week.
