Vygor Opera .2 - a second take on the new crossover from Italy

Last month we reported on the Vygor Opera, a new ‘car’ from Italy which we thought looked like a cross between a 5-Series GT, Subaru and an X6, but after a dose of ugly pills.

So when we got an email in to say there’s a second version of the Opera – catchily named the Vygor Opera.2 – we thought Vygor must have bucked up their ideas from the first Opera and employed someone with a proper Italian flair for design. No such luck.

The second edition of the Opera is just as bad as the firts. Vygor say that this version of the Opera is the ‘luxury’ version but that customers are able to customise the Opera to any degree they wish. Does that mean a new body?

It seems power comes from a 2.0 litre turbo four-pot (although we don”t know its origin) with a choice of power outputs of 300bhp, 350bhp and 420bhp with the 420bhp version having a 0-60mph of under 5 seconds.

The Opera gets a tubular steel chassis with Ohlins suspension, AWD with an electronic limited slip diff at the back and a Torsion diff at the front, all running through a six-speed auto ‘box.

This paricular Opera.2 gets a luxury interior (which we don’t get to see) with toys galore, a small herd of cows dispatched to cover every surface and a touch-screen display.

But it’s still ugly. Maybe Italy’s ugly deficit has rubbed off on their designers?
