What’s a Range Rover ‘Vouge’?

Fri, 12 Apr 2013

Now the 2013 Range Rover is out in the wild, they’re becoming a common site on our roads and in car parks.

So when one of the Cars UK team was sat waiting patiently in the Waitrose car park for his beloved to finish replenishing stocks, he wasn’t particularly surprised to find a nice new Range Rover Vogue slowly pass-by looking for a parking space.

It looked a completely standard Vogue – the entry-level Range Rover – with no personalisation of any sort. But as the Range Rover rolled to a stop alongside he noticed something odd – this appears to be a Range Rover ‘Vouge’.

So he grabbed a photo of the back of the Range Rover – complete with ‘Vouge’ badging – which we sent over to Land Rover this morning to see what they made of it.

They were as bemused as we were by this rather odd spelling of Vogue on the back of the Range Rover and concluded, as did we, that this must be some sort of odd personalisation by the owner.

Land Rover are adamant this couldn’t have come from the factory like this – all the lettering comes ready to fix on a sheet – so it can’t happen. And even if it did, Land Rover are sure it would be picked up by the endless quality checks at both the factory and the dealers.

So we’ve decided this Range Rover must actually belong to a man (or woman) called Vouge who thought it would be amusing to change the letters on the back of their new Range Rover as a subtle bit of individuality.

If you know Mr or Mrs (or Miss or Ms) Vouge, let us know in the comments. And if you have a new Range Rover Vogue go out and have a look at the badge on the back and see how it’s spelt. You never know, there might be a whole heap of them out there.
