Hyundai has unveiled a convertible Veloster Concept – the Hyundai Veloster C3 Roll Top Concept – at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Why tarpaulins? Because the rolling roof on this Veloster – which rolls backwards and forwards – is made from the side tarpaulin used on an HGV.

CDN announces judging panel for Car Design Awards 2010

In line with the competition's aims, the judging panel comprises both Western and Chinese design chiefs, who will be awarding prizes to student entrants which include placements at an international design school. Chairing the panel for the Car Design Awards China 2010 competition will be Peter Stevens, the designer behind the McLaren F1 road car, Lotus Elan and Subaru Impreza P1 among others, and a visiting Professor of Vehicle Design at London's Royal College of Art.

Toyota GT86 TV Advert BANNED

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has banned a TV advert for the Toyota GT86 because it encouraged motorists to drive irresponsibly. But it seems the advert would “encourage motorists to drive irresponsibly” and “…was irresponsible and condoned dangerous driving”. Or at least it would according to the ASA, which made the ruling after being inundated with complaints about Toyota encouraging drivers to speed and be reckless.
