2012 Autoweek Automotive Design Forum

The 2012 – and 19th annual – Autoweek Automotive Design Forum on Thursday 12 January was held at the College for Creative Studies' A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education in Detroit. The event takes place each year during the North American International Auto Show, when designers from around the automotive world converge on the Midwestern city to showcase their work, benchmark the offerings of competitors, and reacquaint themselves with former classmates and coworkers in the industry.

Lotus Exige LF1 Limited Edition – one for every Lotus F1 victory It’s a nice idea to build a limited edition car – the Lotus Exige LF1 – to celebrate very one of the 81 victories Lotus has enjoyed in F1, but it does make you wonder if Lotus has done it because they’re never likely to win again (and if they do, do they produce another LF1?). The new Range Rover (pictured) get Car Dealer Magazine’s Car of the Year Award The new Range Rover may have started its trophy cabinet with an award for the best 4×4 from the Sunday Times – even though they’d never driven it – but the Car of the Year Award from Car Dealer Magazine is a much more credible one. It’s more credible because it’s voted on by car dealers across the UK – from a wide range of franchises – and gives credibility not just to the new Range Rover but to Land Rover’s support of dealers too. Car Dealer Magazine say the new Range Rover was the clear winner by a mile, with dealers commenting the latest version of the Range Rover is a gargantuan step on from the old model – which itself was already very good – and that it ‘Cannot fail to impress’.
