Warning over winter driving dangers
Mon, 18 Nov 2013A LEADING company car management firm has warned of the dangers approaching on the roads with the onset of winter. To coincide with National Road Safety Week LeasePlan UK has urged all drivers to consider the implications of their driving decisions as grip levels go down and accident rates go up. Government statistics reveal more than 6,200 accidents attributable to ice and snow last winter, and those are just the ones that were reported.
VW Polo GTI (2010): first news and photos
Wed, 17 Feb 2010Volkswagen has just issued these first photos of the new 2010 Polo GTI. It uses the 1.4-litre TSI engine with turbo- and supercharging to liberate a stocky 178bhp – enough to make the Polo GTI into a proper little pocket rocket. The first hot Polo was the supercharged G40 of 1986, but that developed a relatively weedy 112bhp. The new 2010-spec Volkswagen Polo GTI is powerful enough to hit 62mph in 6.9sec and reach a 142mph V-max.
Aston Martin. Burj Al Arab Hotel. Helicopter. Mix & Serve.
Fri, 18 Jan 2013As part of Aston Martin’s Centenary celebrations in Dubai, an Aston Martin Vanquish has been helicoptered to the top of the Burj Al Arab hotel. There’s no more extra power on offer from the centenary edition Astons, but they do get a special paint job and interior and come with solid silver enamelled plaques commemorating the centenary, even if Aston Martin seem to have only been able to cobble together a Vanquish Centenary Edition so far. But things have got a bit more spectacular in Dubai, with Aston Martin using a helicopter to stick a Vanquish on the helipad of the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai, 1,000 ft up at the top of the iconic sail-shaped building.
