Goodguys to honor Ed Pink, Ed Iskenderian at Del Mar Nationals

Southern California legends Ed Pink and Ed Iskenderian will be honored as Hot Rod Heroes at the Goodguys 12th Meguiar's Del Mar Nationals, March 30-April 1, at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Both men bring decades of rich hot-rodding and motorsports heritage to the festivities. Pink, who was one of the world's premier engine builders in all racing platforms, will have a booth on the midway showcasing Ed Pink Racing Engines and his red 1929 Ford Hiboy roadster, his “Old Master” Top Fuel dragster and other Pink-powered hot rods.

LUXURY Japanese car maker Infiniti gave the UK public something to savour at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with a high-octane combination of well-known faces and high-speed timed runs up the famous hill-climb. Christian Horner, team principal of Formula One team Red Bull, took turns at the wheel of the 568-horspower Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge prototype, sharing driving duties with professional racer Sébastien Buemi. Chrysler is crushing 93 pre-production Dodge Vipers

Chrysler has ordered 93 first-generation Dodge Vipers to be crushed, including what is believed to be the fourth Viper ever made. A Chrysler representative sent a letter to South Puget Sound Community College, which currently owns the Viper with VIN# 4, informing them that they must crush the car within two weeks. Automakers regularly donate unsellable non-street legal vehicles to automotive-engineering programs at colleges and universities, reserving the right to order the vehicles destroyed for insurance purposes.
