Inside the distributor cap there are up to 30,000 Volts between the live parts. The spark discharge between the distributor rotor and the HT lead contacts generate heat and a high proportion of aggressive nitrogen oxides. Extreme demands are therefore made of the chemical resistance and tracking resistance of the distributor cap. The best four submissions – the Brabus Widestar, Urban Whip, Pikes Peak Rally Racer and Rock Crawler - were displayed at SEMA. And presumably scared a lot of showgoers senseless.

If you want to see a car that’s been hit by an ugly stick, you can’t do much better than take a look at the current Ssangyong Rodius. But you’d better be quick, because Ssangyong are planning to introduce a much slicker looking Rodius (pictured above) at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

You wait ages for a new Corvette, and then six weeks after the new Stingray bows in at the 2013 Detroit atuo show, its soft-top sister is revealed at the Geneva motor show. The latest C7-generation Corvette drop-top uses the same mechanical package (big V8 up front, power sent to the rear wheels) as its fixed-head sister but adds an electrically-folding soft-top roof that you can lower remotely via pushing a button on the key fob. You can also drop the roof while on the move, at speed of up to 31mph.
